Etsy Promo Love Interview : Alice Couture

Today I'm happy to introduce another member form Etsy Promo Love , the fashion designer Alice Couture! Alice has so many talent and her style is very feminine and romantic at the same time, as you can see in her shop on Etsy .

Hi! My name is Alice and I live in a little country near Venice.I completed my studies by the famous School of Fine Arts of Venice "Liceo Artistico Statale di Venezia" in 2003.
After graduating in Venice I continued my studies in Milan by the Burgo Fashion School "Istituto di moda Burgo".Beautiful MILAN!!!I love create with my hands and I love sewing!

- How did you choose the lovely name for your Etsy Shop?
I choose my name immediately when I made the etsy's registration: it reminds me at the beautiful history of fashion! :D

-How did you find Etsy? How long have you been selling on Etsy?

I found Etsy in a newspaper that I read few years ago: I was so curious!!! My registration on Etsy was on May 2007,but I opened my shop only this year (February 2010).

- How would you describe your style? Have any other artists etc influenced your style?

My style...uhmmm I think it is very various and eclectic! Stylish but also for all day!
I love Antonio Marras,a great italian fashion designer! His clothes are so beautiful and original :D

- How did you first come to art and creativity? How did your journey in art and creativity begin?

I started sewing when I was a little mother sews and my aunt sews too!
Maybe it was destiny! I have threads instead of veins!!! :D

- What are your main sources of inspiration?
Well,a lot of different things! Music,Costume and Fashion History and other cultures, like Japanese one or Indian one.

- Have you had any mentors, or are you self taught?

No,I don't have any mentors...unfortunately! But my mother helped me at any time :D

- What is one thing about your creative process that you think most people don't know?
I think that it's difficult, for who not sewing,to understand the huge work to make a dress or a bag. There are a lot of different materials to use and TIME,TIME and also TIME!!!!!! Usually the people think that to make a custom dress is a simple and fast work:but it isn't so! I spend a lot of days to make only one item and it's very hard to make the buyers always happy.

- Do you have a favorite item you have made?

I love this one
Because I spended a lot of time to make it!!!!! This is my favourite one!

- Your message for all of us?

Continue to work on your own Etsy shop and not give up!
A lot of sales to everyone!!!

Thanks to Alice Couture for this beautiful interview

Etsy Promo Love Interview : Relydesign

Today I'm happy to introduce Relydesign alias Elisa Ridolfi! Elisa is an interior designer but she makes also jewelleries with paper, cards and collages. She has many talent as you can see on her Etsy Shop where you can buy her exclusive creations.

I am Elisa, an Italian interior designer with a passion of making handmade things…. Some years ago I started to make jewelry with paper and I realized that I love it! ! I think it is amazing to turn the paper into something different, for example a jewel! I love paper in particular and I also enjoy making cards and collages.

-How did you choose the lovely name for your Etsy Shop?

Hi chose the name Rely because it mixed my name and surname. R is the first letter of my surname and Ely is shorter for Elisa!

-How did you find Etsy? How long have you been selling on Etsy?

I love surfing the net and one day I found it and I was suddenly in love. I opened before an account as a buyer and then last December one as a seller!

- How did you first come to art and creativity? How did your journey in art and creativity begin?

I chose an Art school because I loved painting and drawing and because I am a creative person. I was used to make paper models of houses, pieces of furnishing and the project was at the basis of every work! Then I started to make cards and jewelry for my friends' birthday, because I was bored of the things in the shops! I loved the idea of a unique gift! The idea of a unique piece is still really import, right now, in my Etsy shop.

-What are your main sources of inspiration?

I get inspired by nature, flowers, fruits and also the geometry, the art and the fashion and also flipping through magazine and surfing the net! Sometimes the idea of a new piece arrived while I am doing something completely I am all excited to realize it as soon as I can!

-What is one thing about your creative process that you think most people don't know?

I think that probably it's difficult to understand that all the process is really slow, to cut and then to fold and also protecting the creation with glue and varnish! You must be a patience and precision person! The same is for the pop-up cards, you must be concentrated otherwise, it happened to me, you have to do the same card lots of times!

-How has life affected your art and art affected your life?

The Art school helped me a lot and left me the ability to realize projects. I also worked a lot with paper so probably is thanks to the art school that now I am able, and I love, to do this!

-Do you have a favourite item you have made?

I am really strict with myself and the things that I make so when the creations is done, well done, I am really proud and I love it! In particular I like making jewelry using recycled paper! It's great that the earring made of recycled paper is often a unique piece!

-Your message for all of us?

“Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes, and having fun.” Mary Lou Cook

Stefania is very talented, and she is also a special person. A real creative , in her shop on Etsy you can buy unique pieces made by her, which include jewelry, paintings and drawings, moleskins, dolls and bears, completely handmade

Porcelain Buttons Earrings

Where are you originally from?
I was born in Puglia, southern Italy, close to Greece, but my father is from Friuli,in the north of Italy, and my ancestors come from ex Jugoslavia, Galles and nearby Greece. Now I live in Sardinia,a very special island, rather different from the rest of Italy.

-How did you choose the lovely name for your Etsy Shop?
The name of my shop is made of two words, "Gufo"("Owl") which is a symbol of wisdom and longevity(things i wish to me concerning my work), and "bardo"("bard"),from "longobardo", fierce and combative people who crossed the whole Italy;being half from north and half from south,i do feel like my blood is from all Italy and Europe!

-How did you find Etsy? How long have you been selling on Etsy?
I don't really remember who and when talked me about Etsy,i registered in 2007,but left the account idle for years,my activity took place on an old site of mine and sure Etsy was not in my mind...then the need for changin' style, ideas and items made me re-open concretely in december 2009,thanks also to the support of the Etsy Italian Team, which in the meanwhile i joined, who helped me and helps me considerably in developing ideas.

-How would you describe your style? Have any other artists etc influenced your style?
As for jewelry,i love baroque and rococò very much, the curves and the elaborate
intertwinement of the wire.I love wireworking very much, and my muse is Eni Oken...thanks to her i'm also a teacher at for moleskines and my ancient love for drawing,i love very much to create my personal dreamlike world, my inspiration comes from Tim Burton,Federico Fellini's drawings and Leonardo da Vinci's caricatures
A big influence also comes to me from Surrealism.

- How did you first come to art and creativity? How did your journey in art and creativity begin?
-How long have you been creating? that you love so much?
I've always been drawing and modelling, first memories go back to when i was 3 years old.I attended art school and have a degree in theory of shapes, visual arts section, i partecipated in many exhibits and never stop studying both artists and their techniques. It's important to never stop studying, the pictorial stroke of the artists but also anathomy, color theory,styles,biographies...

-What are your main sources of inspiration?
human faces,i love to transform them in my own personal bestiary

-Have you had any mentors, or are you self taught?
Eni Oken for jewelry design, for modelling and dollmaking surely Marylin Radzat and Lisa Gatz for inserting me in the online lessons with several artists from Niada...but also my Art School teachers.

-Do you sell more at one time of year than others?
I started here on Etsy in the january and winter has been really great...we'll see in fall...unlike many others,my sales have always been very well distributed year round, not only in proximity of Christmas.

Ghiacciolo Popsicle a OOAAK Jewelry Bear

-What is one thing about your creative process that you think most
people don't know?
I never draw a subject in advance..i "cook" it in my mind for several hours or days, when i have the precise 3D drawing in my mind i start drawing headlong with a pen,i like to push my limits and don't want to erase or redo.

-How has life affected your art and art affected your life?
It's hard to answer,i've had paintings and colors in my head from even before i started talking, and was a very taciturn baby...i'd been born like this,i don't know where life ends and art begins and viceversa, what i'm sure of is taht to live the way i want to,art must necessarly make my life better.

-Do you have a favorite item you have made?
No,to me the things i create are like sons,i love them all,but it's since i love them that i let them go free in the world

-What is the best reaction you have gotten from one of your pieces?
When i looked at the finished work and told myself "this is what i wanted!"

-Your message for all of us?
dream and learn, dream and create...transform the dream in tangible art, usable for anyone!

Thanks to Gufobardo for her kindness and for this beautiful interview.
